May 2006- 26-29(F-M).. Troop Trip to Saratoga
NHP, Fort Ticonderoga, and Lake George, NY
- 29 (Mon.) .. Memorial Day Parade.
- Meet 10:45 a.m. at the Yorktown Highway Dept. between Commerce Street and Front Street.
- Attendance is expected. Rain or shine.
- Parade and ceremony afterwards: 11:20 a.m. - 12:00 p.m..
- Wear a full Class A uniform, which includes the merit badge sash.
- Hot dogs and sodas for those who marched will be at the VFW and the American
Legion across the street after the ceremony.
- Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who
have died in our nation's service. Let us not forget those who made the supreme sacrifice for all of us.
- Turn in a signed permission slip for scouts whose parents are not going.

- 30 (Tues.) .. Patrol Meeting 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Cabin, 3091 Hickory St., Yorktown Heights. All scouts are welcome.
June 2006- 4 (Sun.) Junior Shoot
at the Putnam County Fish and Game Association.
- This event is open
to the entire community. It is not a Scout event, so go as individuals, not as troop members. Do not wear a scout uniform.
- Youths must be at least 12 to shoot shotgun. For all children, including
those under 12, there is an air-rifle range.
- There are no fees, the youths shoot for free. Guns and ammunition provided. If they have a gun or ammunition, they
may bring it.
- No limits, shoot
as much as you like.
- Adults may shoot,
but the event is primarily for youth.
- Time: 8:00 a.m. to about 3:00 p.m. At 8:00 a.m. there will be a training class that each of the participants must
attend. Then they will be given shotguns and allowed to shoot. NRA Certified experts will be there to help them learn how
to hit the clay birds.

- Background: The Putnam County Fish and Game Association holds Junior Shoots with safety courses for area
children, conducts several NRA Firearm Safety classes each year open to all members of the community, and conducts NYS Hunter
Safety classes. Their ranges are also used by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Dept. for continued
training of their officers.

Boy Scouts, male leaders, and female leaders.
- Bring a 2-liter soda bottle, a salad or dessert, a folding chair, plus a flashlight to find your way back to your car.

Camp, a golden opportunity for scouts of all ages to advance in rank, to work on many outdoor skills, and to earn merit
badges, optimizing fun and opportunities at the Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation. The benefit cannot be stated too strongly.

- Camp Counselor In Training (CIT) for those ages 14 and 15 (may also earn merit badges as time permits). Will take the place of Den Chief at
the Webelos Resident Camp (Week 1, no fee). CIT/Den-Chiefs that work a full week of Webelos camp will receive a $100 credit toward this year's
Read summer camp fee.
